DX = base model, no power windows or locks

I would suspect the air gap on the crankshaft position sensor has been changed. If gap is too small this problem could happen(in theory).

Looking at the wiring diagram you need power from ASD relay, 5 volt supply, 2 grounds, coil driver(from PCM) grounding the coil and a CMP signal. I assuming your missing one of those signals.

Whats the engine size? Is it a convertible? If it has a distributor then is the coil inside the distributor?

Minimum compression should be 142 psi. Good compression should be 178 psi.

I would say the master cylinder is bad. I guess you would have to plug the ports at the cylinder and see if it still loses pressure.
