Re: Old Dog New Tricks
Another way, which we use, is to tap into engine vacuum and just let it run occasionally turning the steering wheel. Have been doing this for a lot of years. \ One time a friend of mine bought a 1958 T-Bird from a car lot that I was very familiar with and the ps pump was noisy. The dealer agreed to ...

Re: Ford 5.4L Spark Plug Removal Time
Had a customer with F150 5.4L. A relative did him a favor and change spark plugs. Broke 3 and in process of "repairing" it got debris in engine and scored cylinder walls. We installed reman engine. Normally we don't have a real issue if careful. Have repaired several that blew the plugs out of the h...

Re: Stay Under List Price?
I agree with Ric. Published list or retail price is an arbitray figure. Even if your customer calls the dealer for pricing on a part you used and it is lower than what you charged, ask them to call the service department and ask them what they charge for that part. It probably will be even higher th...

Re: 1977 Ford E350 - 5.8L Timing Set
I have an old Motorcraft tune-up guide. There were a couple of different 5.8L engines. Cleveland and modified are basically the same. The Windsor engine is the only one listed for this application ( with 2V carb ). 8 degres BTDC with vacuum line plugged ( I would remove and plug both. One is advance...

Re: POLL: ProDemand
ProDemand is much easier to approach with the new VIN decoder. Cut and paste VIN and loads pretty fast. I open the program when I open in the AM and leave it open all day. One click takes you there then paste in VIN. Still, it navigates differently and will take some getting used to. Have been using...

Re: Reman or Getting Rebuilt?
My NAPA store stands behind me very well . The major issue I have found even with new parts is that there is absolutely no pride in workmanship anymore. Just put in your time and collect a pay check.

Re: Reman or Getting Rebuilt?
I am a NAPA AutoCare shop. All rotating electrical carries a limited life time warranty, to the original purchaser for that venicle. If there is an issue within 6 months and we do the second repair they cover the labor at 75% of my flat rate. If more than 25 miles from my shop that labor warranty go...

Re: Fleet Vehicle Reporting
How about go to history screen on any vehicle and click on print at bottom of screen. This I think will give you all of the info you are looking for. I have my print options set to "print to screen" so you can review it before priniting it out.

Re: 2003 Jeep Liberty - 3.7L Hole in Head
I get all of my reman heads from Clearwater Cylinder Heads in Clearwater, Florida. Had excellent luck with them. Takes about 3-5 days depending where you are. They charge shipping one way and supply call tag for core return. Less money than any I can get locally. 5100 ULMERTON RD SUITE 2 Clearwater,...

Re: GMC Savannah Bus - A/C - FIXED
Glad I'm not the only one that has been stymied by this situation. Just wish it hadn't taken me so long to find the solution. When the first two compressors could not be coericed to produce suction and vacuum on the bench it just seemed logical to suspect the compressors. Lessons like this are learn...

GMC Savannah Bus - A/C - FIXED
Sorry I have not posted this earlier. Wanted to make sure that it stayed fixed and I have not spent much time in the office since my last post with being out of town to help my sister celebrate her 50th wedding anniversery, then took an Alaska cruise. My interpretation of what has been said so far leads me to the blower motor or motor controls. When the air quits flowing can the fan still be heard or does it go silent??

Re: GMC Savanna G3500 Bus - A/C Issues
I considered the possibility of an internal hose issue but this being barrier hose and being able to blow through it in both directions kinda discounted that theory. Did not completely pur it out of mind but just can't see it happening like it could on the old rubber hose. Don't give up on me. Still...

GMC Savanna G3500 Bus - A/C Issues
This is a G3500 cab and chassis that is a 16 passenger bus. Has factory ac in the dash and an added Carrier inside roof mount auxiliary unit in the back. Powered condenser under the side of the bus. Front condenser has been bypassed. Came to us with a hot electrical odor. AC clutch was burned up. Wh...

Looking for some insight and possible same experience. 2008 GMC Acadia Steering assist will almost go away about 1/2 turn from steering stop either direction. Can forcibly steer through it. Steers fine straight or slight turn. Fluid is full and clean. First attempt to duplicate issue only occurred a...
