7.1.7 Production Date

We just updated to 7.1.7 yesterday. The way the Production date is entered now is driving me insane. Use to enter the month, hit tab, enter the day, hit tab, enter the year. Now it seems I have to high light each. PLEASE tell me I am missing something. I know it only takes me 10 extra seconds to do it, but it's nuts.

TIP: Alt + down arrow then right arrow - type as usual.

Rich,

If you're referring to the Manufacture Date field on the vehicle screen, you can also use the period or slash itself to advance from M/D/YY.

I'm a mouse guy. I click on the month field and with my left hand type the data, then click on the next and type with my left, rinse and repeat. Goes pretty quick for me that way. Inspection date the same.

I agree the new format is clunky. We used to be able to tab over and the WHOLE date would be highlighted. This is more work for sure.

I had you figured for a 10 key guy all the way. I personally can't type numbers using the top keyboard row.

I also noticed on some vehicles it is jumbled when printed on the tech sheet

Brian,

Could you please post a screenshot of what you're referring to?

Same here. I need the little square keypad .

Way back in the 5.9 days, I was doing service writing. Being a mouse guy, I installed a little keypad to the LEFT of my main keyboard so I could click and enter numbers more efficiently. I loved that setup. I might have to go back to it if you keep messing with these fields!

I think my mouse love stems from all those Apple computers I once owned.

Brian,

It is a template problem, I found the exact same version of template you have - it's broken. If anyone sees their tech worksheet displaying the same behavior with dates, update to this version: http://www.m1faqs.com/fix/SE/TechWorksheets.exe

Instructions to update using above.

Close Manager
Download and run this file. Do the same at each workstation. Restart Manager. Patch takes literally seconds to run.

Ric, quit being so cheap. I have purchase both of the key boards that I use here. Cost about $20.00, wireless and a mouse. Want me to buy you one??

I do inspection and production dates, all mouse. Click the down arrow, click month/year, click right or left arrow (depending on what you're putting in) to the desired year, click the desired month, click the desired day. Sounds like a bit, but it goes really fast, and your left hand is free to eat Doritos, the entire time.
