2002 Cad Escalade - No A/C Unless Relay Jumped

Post by AFFORDABLEAUTOREPAIR »

NO A/C, CAME INTO THE SHOP WITH BROKEN TENSIONER. REPLACED TENSIONER AND BELT, HOOKED UP GAUGES CHECK PRESSURES. IF I JUMP RELAY, COMP ENGAGES, BLOWS COLD. A/C BUTTON LIGHTS UP RECIRC LITES UP AND SCANNER HAS NO CODES. SCANNER WILL SHOW A/C REQUEST WHEN TURNED ON BUT NO CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT.

A couple things come to mind, one is reseting the truck with a battery disconnect, prob not the answer, I would also look at the a/c pressure PIDs on the scanner and see what they are reading. might have knocked a pressure sensor connector or wire off, or poss broke a pressure sensor. Seems the best I can remember that the high side pressure transducer is mounted to the line right near the belt,
Working hard to prove the Green Team can do it with the best of 'em.

Check for codes? I remember some of these setting a code for low pressure and locking out the compressor until reset.

agreed, some will set code without the light coming on and if not cleared the compressor will not engage.
