Purging old files

Post by gviertell »

Is there an easy way to purge old customers that have not been for a while in a batch type purge?

Though there currently is not a mass purge, we still want to implement it. It's some heavy lifting though, and obviously we want to incorporate as many failsafes as possible. Due to the scope of the effort, it's not currently planned for an imminent release.

Are there benefits to removing them?

The biggest benefit comes when searching/querying a database with a large number of records. The less records, the faster the process. Other benefits might include trimming down holiday mailings, etc.

However, as far as performance gains, we're talking in the milliseconds in most areas of the application — not really perceptible.

Thanks for the info. Just thought it would clean things up if we could delete anybody that has not ben in for 8-10 years or so.
