Perform Mail Merge - Vehicle Recommendations?

I am looking to do a mail merge to send out letters that contain customer, vehicle and vehicle recommendation information. I called tech support and they said it is no longer possible using 6.4SE. He said to voice my concern on this board. Can anybody help with this?

Now let's sort out what you really want to do. A mail merge query will populate fields you can use in a Word mail merge operation. I don't think the support agent understood the question properly.Mail Merge still exists in SE; it doesn't include Recommendations text, just as it never was included with MM in Manager 5.9.

Followup - Recommendations can do that and include the Recommendations text with dates, customer, vehicle.

My goal is to create a export file that I can take the fields from and insert them into Word. I need the customer info, vehicle and recommendations. How do I accomplish this?

The Mail Merge process can certainly make Manager data fields available to insert into a Word document. The reason that Recommendations are not included is that these are not simple data fields; there can be one or several of these on file. These entries are child records belonging to the Vehicle (parent) record and therefore stored in the database in a different manner.

Under Reports, Followup - Recommendations can of course generate canned letters that include customer, vehicle with it's Recommendations along with stored text. The key is whether these suit your purpose. Manager SE does include export options in the Print Preview window (upper LH corner). You can select output in several formats such as Word doc or rtf, Excel with text or data only. You might play with that and see if that is useful to your purposes.

Beyond what is built in to Manager SE reporting, there is also the Report Pro offering from ProPack.

When I go to help in ManagerSE it doesn't have this information. From within Manager Se I go to Help>Promotions and Reports>FollowUp Letter and Postcards then under See Also... Setup MailMerge Letters and Postcards. When I click there I get "page cannot be found"

Please advise.

You can also export from 6.4 by using a utility we wrote found at http://www.m1faqs.com/fix/SE/index.htm on line 42: MailList Generator (need Excel installed). Double click on that to install the files. Got to C:\mitchell and double click on maillist.bat. You will need MS Excel on your machine.
