To review, both these vehicles are in the database right now and you cannot delete the plate characters on the old vehicle and then click Exit?

I have been having some funky issues with my database again as well. So our database is now in the hands of the Mitchll support team to see what they can figure out. Hopefully it is back soon, of course I would send it away on a busy day & am going to have a lot to re enter once we get it back.

The beetle was a car that the customer owned. They sold that car.

VW, is still under customers account, and has history. has been sold, won't be deleted until the plate is gone

Subaru was just purchased to replace VW, has no history in our system. Has all info entered. went to enter plate and it kicks it out due to the VX having it.

To chime in, that has been the issue with our system too. It doesn't like when you switch a plate datat to another vehicle. Something still sticks in the database. If you delete one - it still is shadowing in the system somewhere.

The plate is visible for the VW but won't allow you to use 1) Delete key or 2) backspace over lic plate digits, then Exit button - Save Changes to Vehicle Record? Y/N

What happens?

i highlight plate and hit back space, exit, do u wanna delete? YES. At that point the plate spot is blank, once you click out of that screen in any way the plate comes back! (tried with delete also, same results)

The good news is that it works here; the bad news is that the issue must be database specific.

Here's what I did:

1. Gave plate TACOBELL to existing customer - existing RO
2. Used F3 - found by plate
3. Removed plate and it stayed gone
4. Used F3 - plate not found
5. Gave it to a different customer, saved it
6. Used F3 - found by plate
7. Removed plate and it stayed gone
8. Used F3 - plate not found
9. Created a new customer & vehicle, same plate.
10. Made an EST/RO/INV with this vehicle and posted it.
11. Utilities Customer screen deleted plate
12. Used F3 - plate not found

So does this mean I can have your system?

Try running plate BQY4226 and see if you can find it!

For giggles I tried to change the plate to "tacobell" and it didn't stick.

I caught that in step 11 you used Utilities to get to customer. I also tried that thinking i'd have a lightbulb moment. Would not allow any type of change either. i am not allowed to edit plate in any fashion.

We currently are using version 6.4.521. We are having some issues with deleting plate numbers. This does not happen for all vehicles only a vehicle here and there. Has there been any kind of fix or workaround to delete a license plate?

Welcome to the forum.

I can delete SE license plates here all day long; it appears to be something unique and specific to a user's database records.

Thus there is no patch because there is no universal issue seen as yet. Please work with tech support on this.

After continuing to play around with it, we found a solution that works for us. We noticed on each vehicle that we were having a problem with, there was not manufacturer's date listed for the vehicle. It appeared as all zeros in the date. After putting in a date we are now able to delete the license plates on the affected vehicles. Maybe this could be the universal issue you are looking for.

The Mfg Date status (0/0/0000) is definitely a factor; I still think there's some more to this.

That's some good sleuthing! I'm curious to hear what Rich & brian87 might say about this. :!:

Ill watch to see if my shows that. I have not had any issues of late. NOTE: I have been deleting the plates before removing the vehicles from the database. This so far has eliminated all my issues.

Support has a bug on file attributed to Transporter databases (conversion) which I don't think any of you are. Could somebody elboe the Mfg Date field to blank out? This is where 0/0/0000 generally comes from unless a conversion from a different system...

I think ours get to 00/00/0000 when the gremlin doesn't find a date and enters it that way! If I can't find a date I enter a number that is obviously wrong like 01/01/1979 for a 2010 car.
