PO Search - Can't Locate Part or Invoice

We installed a wiper motor a year ago for a customer. I look in history and don't find it. I think we got bit by the "Invoice switched customer names on us" Glinch. So the best thing I can do is to search for the unknown part in PO search. Here is how I am doing it

View Po's = All po's
Click on search at bottom,
Po # = all
Status = All
Date: = all. (however I do change the listed search date, does all mean, ever PO in the system? or does all mean all within date range??)
I change date to 08/26/2012 to 08/26/2014
Vender = <all>
Part number= 40-2002
i click search.
"No records were found which match the entered criteria" (its VERY possible I have wrong Part #)

BUT....when i click "OK" on warning box, my hour glass cursor goes to jumbo size and my Mitchell system Locks up. After about a minute, the PO box flips and show every PO in my system........

What am I doing wrong?? Don't understand why the system is locking up on me.

note.... this is a larger than normal pain for me right now. As the invoice with the info is gone, so I do not know who we bought it from. So i am resorting to looking up part numbers in CarQuest (4 options) and searching each part number. Auto Value two options..........

You don't need to view all PO's to search. Just open your PO window, click Search, click Closed (I assume you close your PO's after receiving), select the Vendor and type in the part number. This is much faster.

PS. When I click on View All PO's, my system locks up.

Don't forget Reports -> Management -> Part Number Search report.

Ok will try it the ways you guys mentioned. Trouble is I do not know what the part number is. I am hoping the customer has his printed copy of invoice, then I can pull up invoice number and get it back to the correct vehicle/customer.

Partial part number or partial description is okay in Part Number Search report; just change it from (B)egins with to (C)ontains.

Do you know who you bought it from? If you looked up the part by YMM in their catalog, perhaps you could come close on either of these.

Also, if you know YMM, call your store and get the number, then try a search for that.

The vehicle is still in the system. Just that the invoice is gone. I have looked up the part number, in 4 parts stores, and searched them all. Came up empty. Will look at printed invoice that the customer has.

When you see it, enter that INV # in Manager (F4 Find History - Invoice tab) and see if the ownership slipped to another customer as you thought.

Ah, yah. This is great. Invoice number 75451 our highest number is 26345. He had it repaired some where else. :evil:

LOL. And we were blaming a glitch in Mitchell.

There was a glitch, though.... in the customers head. I love it.

I'd think that once you had the proof that it was done elsewhere, that they'd understand and pursue it where it was done. Too rational? :mrgreen:

I would politely tell him we only warranty parts sold and installed by our shop. He would have to go back to the shop he bought it from for any warranty claims. Did you see what he paid? was it less than you quoted?

Never saw his receipt, He gave me invoice number and the alarms went off. I should have played dumb, which is easy, and looked.
