Change in Ownership and History

Post by kwynter »

After changing ownership on a vehicle, is there a way to change the name on an invoice in history without rewriting the entire ticket?

We did an engine replacement for a local business and after the job was completed and invoiced, they advised us that they should have put it in the name of their subsidiary which has a resale sales tax certificate. We have changed the ownership of the vehicle, however, need to change the name on the invoice for the engine replacement as was in the parent company's name when the ticket was generated and closed. We are trying to accomodate them as the sales tax amount is substantial...is this possible without generating a new ticket?

Thank you.

I would suggest unposting the Invoice and making your changes, then reposting. Changing ownership does not affect posted orders.

Thanks for the response. During this research, we discovered the Change Customer button. After unposting the invoice, we went to the customer screen where this button is located. After clicking on the Change Customer button, it asks if we are changing the Customer and Vehicle. We were able to change customer only.

This might be because the ownership of the vehicle record needed to be changed FIRST, so that it could be selected under this other customer's name.
