Adding Credit Card Charges?
I was wondering with the new law that small bussiness can charge the customer a percetage for credit card transactions if it is possible to set the shop key program up to add the percetage to the final total of the repair order when credit card payments were accepted? Any information on how to do this would be great. Thank you.

Re: Credit card charges
Welcome to the Forum.
We were thinking about this earlier too. My first thought would be to use either the Hazmat or shop supplies line. Check off both parts and labor. Set the percentage and leave the cap blank. You'll rename it to reflect the charge as you see fit. That would be one way of adding a percentage to the Invoice.

I love the thought for charging credit card fees but for us I think people would have a problem with it because you can go all sorts of places and not pay a fee.

Agreed whatI do is figure out roughly what % of totoal $ is from cc and up my parts markup to cover or at least get it close. you can do this with shop supplies possibly to.

It would definitely be an individual choice. We bounced the idea around here but haven't come to a decision on it yet. With over 80% of people paying that way now, it's not an easy one. Everyone will need to weigh the pros and cons.

Re: Adding Credit Card Charges?
My two cents...i'd "hide" it in the parts. If i was to go to your shop for front end work and see a "CC" fee on the bottom line i would notice. If I took the car then to "My" alignment shop and did NOT see the fee.....well, you know where I would be going. Call me stupid, but if you just bumped up parts I'd be to lazy to shop around and find it out.

i agree with Rich, not a smart move to show it, just because its a law doesnt mean people are required to like it, going to your shop IS their deceision.
