Supersede Part Help

Post by murraymotive »

Is it possible to supersede an inventory part into another known inventory part?

We've had a few oil filters consolidate into one number, but when I try to supersede I am only able to do so to a newly created inventory entry which isn't feasible.

Am I missing a field/step somewhere?

You cannot supersede a part to an existing part with the current architecture. What I've been doing is deleting the old part and entering it's part number as an Alt part for the new number.

I have two filters which are now one, but that one is a new part number.

So:
Oil Filter A = Oil Filter C
Oil Filter B = Oil Filter C

Am I out of luck?

If oil filter c is a new number, you'll be able to supersede one existing number to it, but not two. You can do that and use the other existing number as an alt part or use both existing numbers as alt numbers and create a new record.
