Poor Wiring Diagram Printing Quality?

I've been having a lot of trouble with the quality of the wiring diagram printing.

I have a Canon and HP printer and both of them print the same way. I can't read any of the "written" descriptions on the printed copy of the diagrams (wire color, fuse number, ect). I have tried printing in the highest quality and it doesn't make any difference. This has become very annoying. What can I do to change the way this prints?

I have searched the forums and there isn't anything on print quality that I can find.

The issue you describe is consistent with the issues experienced printing SVG wiring diagrams from Internet Explorer 9. The only current solution is to remove IE9 and return to Internet Explorer 8.

However, we are continuing to investigate the issue.

Thanks. That took care of it for now. I don't use IE at all normally so I would have never thought it had to do with that upgrade.

The problem is IE9, no need to dance It works fine for IE8 and others. 9 is broke, not Mitchell.

Instead of jumping down my throat, let's examine this issue.
When I am in Mitchell manager version 6.4.70 and go to look at repair as the program is now incorporated with the two, I look up a 2004 Honda Accord EX 3.0L and go to repair to look up a wiring diagram (click repair, go to repair, electrical, wiring diagrams, system wiring diagrams, power distribution) then I view Power Distribution Circuit (1 of 4) Looks great on the screen, then I click print. and I get this out of the printer:

Really can't make any of it out.

Now please understand my frustration. You would think in the updates that I receive the correct settings would be installed.
I'm not a computer genius but when something looks correct on the screen, then it is printed usually the images are very similar, this is not the case. In IE9 I can print text and pictures off the Mitchell homepage and they look fine, why not the wiring diagrams.

If there is a solution why aren't we notified directly. Mitchell knows who the users are and they know what systems we are running.

I believe that you get those weird print-outs because SVG viewer does not render correctly in IE9. Mitchell uses Adobe SVG viewer for wire diagrams. I think this is an issue with Adobe and Microsoft.

These look like the "backup" diagrams if SVG color cannot be rendered or if certain user configuration settings are selected.

Please open your od5.com as stand-alone program in your IE browser so that you may go to Setup - Configurations and check settings:

If the Print black & white diagrams box is checked, uncheck it and try it again.

Tim, they are not enabled. The diagrams are in color. I printed one, then scanned it in so you could see the quality.
Here is the current setting and what it's set to.

Let me know if there is anything else I can try. The owner is furious!

I'm told by support this issue has to do with using Internet Explorer version 9.0. Shops may have accepted the invitation to update without any knowledge that this would introduce an issue.

When you roll back (un-install IE 9.0) to IE 8.0 the diagrams should print as expected.

Tim,
When we were at the seminar we were told that we would be wise to update to windows 7 for the new system, that's what we did. Spent $2000.00 on a new i7 laptop to support all of this.

We're running Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1 64 bit.

How do we go back to IE 8?

And do you know when the comparability fix will be available to support IE9?

Windows 7.0 is great; that's the operating system. It shipped with IE 8.0 browser and everything was fine. Then Microsoft quietly rolled out IE 9.0 browser and the problem began.

In Control Panel Add & Remove Programs, look for Internet Explorer 9.0 and select to Remove it. I believe that IE 8.0 would still be on your system. If you do not see it listed, it can be downloaded from Microsoft. If this is outside your expertise, borrow a geek for 10 minutes and it's done.

We are not addressing the IE 9.0 issue as we are close to wrapping development on the next gen (ProDemand) to be delivered in Q1 and it is not reliant on MS Internet Explorer at all, which means that most browsers (IE or not) can be used to view it.

If you know you have a 64 bit PC, yes.

Now I tried that idea and when I launch the installer it says "Internet Explorer 8 is not supported on this operating system"
Anyone have any other ideas?

If you are able to successfully remove IE9, you will automatically have Internet Explorer 8. It's a base part of the Windows 7 operating system.

If you're still having difficulty removing it, the installation is most frequently found in the Windows Updates area of the Programs and Features section. Look for Windows Internet Explorer 9.

The good news is it's finally fixed. I rolled back to IE8, installed the SVG viewer and added the registry key. All from the managerfiles site. Reboot, accept the legal garbage see the diagram and print it. Now it can be seen.
