IM WORKING ON A 2004 CHEVY CORVETTE. WE PUT A BCM IN IT DUE TO WATER DAMAGE AND NOW WERE GETTING A MESSAGE FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAYING TO SERVICE THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK. NOW EVERYTIME I PUT IT IN GEAR AND START TO MOVE IT STALLS OUT RIGHT AWAY BUT IDLES ALL DAY WITH NO PROBLEM.

ANYONE KNOW OR HAVE A PROBLEM LIKE THIS? PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANKS.

Your error message and the stalling are likely related. In the event of a steering column lock failure, the fuel is cut off when you try to move the vehicle. There is a recall on the lock from GM. Determine the cause of the lock problem and you'll probably fix the stalling. Check out the TSB.

THANK YOU I LOOKED THAT RECALL UP AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM IM HAVING. THE ONLY THING I CANT UNDERSTAND IS I FOUND ON OUR MITCHELL THERE IS A COLUMN LOCK RELAY SUPPOSE TO BE RIGHT ABOVE THE BCM AND NEXT TO THE THEFT DETERRENT RELAY. IM HAVING PROBLEMS FINDING IT THE ONLY RELAY THERE IS THE THEFT DETERRENT RELAY THERE IS NO STEERING COLUMN RELAY ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND. BUT WHEN I GO ON MITCHELL IT SAYS ITS THERE AND ON THE WIRING DIAGRAM IT SAYS ITS RIGHT THERE IN THE FOOTWELL ABOVE THE BCM. I PULLED THE WHOLE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS CAR APART AND STILL CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE.
ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS RELAY OR ANYTHING?
THANK YOU.

I've sent mine to GM. You could always perform a Steering Column Functional Lock Test. It's in the BCM and can be done with the Tech2. Probably other scanners can access that test too? That'll enable the lock and you could listen for the relay click.
