2003 Dodge Stratus - 2.4L PCV Valve
I have a 2003 Dodge Stratus 2.4 that is putting oil in the air intake. After checking the PCV valve I found no vacuum. Closer look reveled the vacuum port the PCV valve goes to is closed from the factory. What doesn't make since is the customer has owned this car for a couple years and it just started doing this. What am I missing here?

from what i'm seeing that isn't the pcv valve. it appears to be located between the valve cover and throttle body.

Is it possible the intake was replaced with an aftermarket? Or the hole for the line was never opened from the factory and there was never enough blow-by to cause a problem until the engine got some miles on it. Check the emissions tag and see if it includes PCV.

This is the PCV valve.steven kiser wrote:from what i'm seeing that isn't the pcv valve. it appears to be located between the valve cover and throttle body.
The customer has owned it for a couple years. It has not been replaced since they owned it but no way to know before that. It has a vacuum routing diagram and it shows this as a PCV valve. I just couldn't understand why it hasn't always had this problem from day one, and why it just now showed up. Their is another port that had a plug on that I temporally plugged into to make sure it fixes the problem.ricmorin wrote:Is it possible the intake was replaced with an aftermarket? I just had a 2003 Stratus in here. My PCV is NOT connected to the manifold at the same location as the one pictured. Mine is connected next to the other line by the throttle body. The EGR system is connected to the port shown. HTH

Thank you! The port you are talking about is where I put it. This car must have a different EGR system and that port is not needed? Although same year you'd think it would be the same.ricmorin wrote:I just had a 2003 Stratus in here. My PCV is NOT connected to the manifold at the same location as the one pictured. I think there are 2 different veersion of that engine size. That may account for the difference. As soon as I opened the hodd on this one today I remembered your post and picture.
I think you got it where it belongs.
