This vehicle is the same as a Nissan Quest. 3.3L motor. The CKP is triggered off of the flywheel/flexplate (auto trans).
My question is this-- What on the flywheel is used to identify TDC #1 for the sensor? As we all know, usually there is a wider gap between triggers or a larger trigger tooth. This vehicle does not seem to have anything that identifies TDC for the CKP.
Am I missing something here?

As I recall, this one uses the starter ring gear teeth to trigger the sensor. I am not sure how it identifies #1 though. Not had a reason to discover that yet.

The camshaft sensor identifies TDC.

As a matter of fact, the cam sensor does most everything drivability-wise. The crank on these only does diagnostics. (crank speed variations to determine misfires, etc.)

besides that doesn't the crank sensor supply information during start up only, and after a few seconds pretty much is a tach sensor only.
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
