POLL: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
I'd like to know what real-world users of our software think about this notion. In Manager SE, it is possible to right-click on the labor rate in the Order grid and select a different rate from the labor rate table.
After pointing this out, I was told that a user should be able to free-from type ANY $ value into that window.
Is this a good idea or a bad idea?
Also, please be sure to comment why you think so. Thanks!

Re: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
I think that function would be fantastic. Its all about flexability. Even better if it could be turned on & off. If your service writer has his own ideas like a "Friends & Family" labor rate, then I would like the option to be able to turn it off.

Re: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
I think having the drop down choices is better. If someone were to change labor up, no big deal (kinda) but if they drop it down as stated earlier then it becomes an issue.

Re: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
I like the idea. I also agree that we need to be able to turn it on/off or protect it in the Program Security Setup.

Re: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
As long as the order is ALWAYS priced at the customers original shop rate first, I think it would be great. Having to select a labor rate for each operation would not be good but being able to chage 1 operation for a large ticket would be helpful. jerry

Re: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
I like the idea. I still want the drop down list, but be able to overtype with any value. Nice.

Re: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
I think this is a good idea as well. I agree with everyone above that stated we should be able to turn it off/on and that the default labor rate always appears first for any given customer.

that's the biggie for me. the base rate is set and after any change it defaults back. i feel that it should be password protected as well.

I'm a control freak.
Actually, I really do want as much control as possible, drop down only limits that.

Quik and easy. Would still like to type over for the "special" customer. And it should be protected to prevent "gremlins".

Re: POLL: Manager SE Labor Rates Question
It's a great feature, but in the current version of SE, editing a line item in the order screen tends to intermittently cause the program to crash (lock-up), so I always change it in the LABOR edit screen. Lots & lots of bugs in SE, but still like all the improvements!

I like the option of this feature. i also agree to have the default rate to be applied, and have this feature pw protected.
