This vehicle has a "Service" light with a wrench next to it. The problem is I cannot find what the light is on for. I know it's for maintenance, but I cannot find a reset procedure or any information why it is on.
I have searched it out online and there is no owners manual in the car.
Help me out please?

Re: 1997 SL2 Saturn-- Service Light
to reset service (wrench) tell tale all codes must be cleared including power control module, body control module, and anti lock brakes. clear with scanner and on this car you can disconnect the battery for 60 seconds. it say's that it may take longer on some applications.....................
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Re: 1997 SL2 Saturn-- Service Light
It's really not for maintenance based on my info. There's a code stored somewhere.

Re: 1997 Saturn SL2 - Service Light--Fixed
The light was not related to the computer in anyway. All I can figure is it is a warning light indicating something is wrong with the vehicle, but no references regarding a "Service" light. I scanned all modules and no codes stored in any of them.
Problem turned out to be a bad Maxi Fuse, 30amp, which powered the cooling fan. The cooling fan was faulty, blew the fuse. Whether it was the fuse or the fan, I don't know but with the problems repaired, no light.

Re: 1997 Saturn SL2 - Service Light (Fan) FIXED
The PCM controls the cooling fan on that model. It was aware that there was no power from that fuse because it monitors that circuit. The PCM then commanded the cluster to illuminate the light. Codes that turn on the 'Wrench' light are type C codes. They include ABS module failure, transaxle temp sensor issues, and quad driver issues. I'm surprised you had no codes. What scanner were you using? Perhaps this was a manufacturer code that the scanner didn't pick up. Glad you found the culprit, though. Thanks for posting a fix.
