Symptoms Display Within Invoice
Symptoms Display Within Invoice
Okay, here I am again, trying to figure out what I should do. Let me explain.
I am trying to use the Symptoms feature on our invoices to give a clear Complaint, Cause, and Correction to the customer. I wanted to use ProPack and by the job invoicing, but my boss believes those invoices are too busy and not easily readable. I disagree, but he is the boss. Therefore, I am trying to come up with my own solution.
When I use Symptoms, it places the Symptom between the Work Requested and Work Performed sections of the invoice. To my way of thinking, that placement is unclear on the invoice. I would like to have the Symptom above the Work Requested and Work Performed sections.
Ideas and suggestions? I am actually thinking about using a lot of copy and paste and create my own Symptoms in Work Requested, with notes and actual labor performed in Work Performed.

I like this notion... I looked at the report template and with a bit of editing I can force the symptom to the top - what do you forum members think of changing the invoice to do this:

To modify the file necessary, you would need Crystal Reports v11.5DynaBMan wrote:Absolutely!! Tell me which file and the edit needed and I'll gladly hack away.Johnny5 wrote:I like this notion... To elaborate further, I think the symptom at the top lays out the invoice the way it should be laid out. The concern, ie. symptom, work requested, and then work performed. It should be easily understood by the customer.Johnny5 wrote:I like this notion... We just updated to ShopKey 6.5.42 this afternoon. Is Crystal Reports v11.5 included in that update? I'm not sure how that works.Johnny5 wrote:To modify the file necessary, you would need Crystal Reports v11.5DynaBMan wrote:Absolutely!! Re: Symptoms Display Within Invoice
Great post, I'll have to look at how our invoices are formatted. I do disagree with your boss about ProPack. It is great and I would never ever go back to using a stock invoice. I've had so many compliments from the new invoices.
Re: Symptoms Display Within Invoice
I think the ProPack by the job invoices would be perfect, but it isn't my decision to make. If it were, I would go to them in a heartbeat. Oh well....mspecperformance wrote:Great post, I'll have to look at how our invoices are formatted. I do disagree with your boss about ProPack. Re: Symptoms Display Within Invoice
I have started using my own "Symptoms" canned job. I can use the Quick Menu to access it and then fill in the information, as needed. I use one job for each customer concern and then build the invoice as if it were going to be by the job. This results in the symptoms and subsequent labor and notes being organized by the job, with the parts on the opposite side of the invoice. It's not perfect, but it's the best thing I can come up with.
