Modifying Closed Purchase Orders

Post by AVENUEAUTOMOTIVE »

Why are we not able to unpost closed PO's? Although not very common, there are times that PO's get closed with incorrect information on them and we need the ability to re-open them and make corrections.

You can reopen a purchase order by viewing it and choosing to print it. After printing, the PO will be open again.

Yes, if you click print on a closed purchase order, then click yes, and you can exit that window without printing it. after you come back to the P.O, you click save and then edit/receive after it you see it, and that is how you open it up....has mitchell fixed this problem with a re-open p.o button yet or something else easier???

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post.

Does it happen than often and what is the reason?

Its a matter of editing a purchase order, it happens as often as we forget to add things to our orders, which can be a few times a week...I do like that there is a p.o button now but if when you went in to the purchase order after you closed it, it would be nice if there was a re-open p.o button...

If there are omissions, why not make a new PO for those items rather than altering historic data?

Well if it is older than a week or two, then yes i do make a new purchase order. But if it is within the week our headquarters likes to see everything original together, if i make a new P.O then i have to also change the purchase order number on the invoice, and altering invoices is not what they like to see. So basically if i can keep everything together, i try to....re-opening is necessary sometimes

Thanks for the explanation; first time I'd ever heard that. I'll put it on the enhancement requests list.

In the meantime, please use the workaround as described above.
