I see "Est. Parts" on several screens. I've never used it and I don't remember it being covered in the videos. Perhaps it was, but my memory isn't what it ought to be.
So, what does it do? Clearly it has something to do with estimating parts for a particular symptom or job, but could someone elaborate on the particular circumstances for when it might be used?

Re: "Est. Parts"
It's an antiquated feature from 1995 before the Estimator and/or electronic parts catalogs were available. A shop would enter a swag figure and this would disappear when real part items were added.

Ah. I see. So, it'll probably/eventually go away. Whatever the case, it looks like I don't need it concern myself with it any further.
Thanks Tim.

Re: "Est. Parts"
I still use this every day. It comes in handy when doing estimates on jobs that usually entail a litany of small parts that are impossible to identify before you start. A good advisor will know what the average cost is and input it here so your estimate doesn't go over. We use 50 dollars when estimating an engine replacement, 10 dollars for exhaust work(nuts and bolts), etc. It's a very handy feature and I hope it never goes away.

That's another way of doing it, yes. We used to have phantom items in inventory like that, not anymore. We use the values in Mitchell inventory for accounting. Too many phantoms would throw our numbers off.
