I want to add a little bit to the labor sales but not pay the techs more hours for their labor commission.
Here is what the F1 help screen says:
In the MarkUp panel of the Standard Tables dialog box you are able to enter and maintain standard markups, and add-on costs, on the parts and labor rates with which you build Manager orders. You are also able to enter overhead markups for use with the Manager Profit Wizard.
Note: These Markups are the default markups and can be overwritten when you create orders.
To Enter/Edit Markup Information:
1. Select Markup from the Standard Tables dialog box (a selection from the Setup menu).
2. Select the appropriate option button to display percentages as a MarkUp over cost or as a percentage of the profit.
For example, a part that costs $1.00 with a 100% Mark Up will be priced at $2.00 on the order. A $1.00 part with a 50% Profit will also be priced at $2.00 on the order.
3. Enter/edit data as necessary. The dialog box contains the following data fields:
Sublet Markup %- The percentage, over/under cost, or profit percentage, that sublet operations are priced at on the order.
Parts Guide %- The percentage, over/under Estimating Guide list price, that parts taken from Estimating Guide will be priced at on the order. For example, a part with an Estimating Guide price of $1.00 that is marked up at 5% will be priced at $1.05 on the order.
Labor Guide % - The percentage, over/under Estimating Guide labor & time, that labor operations taken from Estimating Guide will be entered onto the order. For example, a labor operation with an Estimating Guide value of one hour that is marked up at 5% will be entered as 1.05 hours on the order.
Shop Overhead % - The percentage allocated for shop overhead of parts and labor subtotal (before taxes) for use in profit wizard analysis.
Miscellaneous Overhead % - The percentage allocated for miscellaneous overhead of parts and labor subtotal (before taxes) for in profit wizard analysis.
4. Select OK to save your entries and exit.Does this mean that if we choose to put in 1.02 in this mark up setting it will override the set labor rate of 92.00? if so will it change the hours on the ro to 1.02? how does it affect the tech hours? I'm thinking that I need to check the labor hours only box instead of the labor hours and the tech box. How does it affect the reports?
Also - the help screen to the left of the markup screen says
You can mark up” Parts and Labor information taken from Parts & Labor Estimating Module (if installed).
Do we have such a module?? I don't want to change anything yet as I am assuming that it might effect the ROs and Estimates that are in the computer at this time.

Re: using the markup settings to override my flat rate
If you pay flat rate them simply raise your labor rate a little. Hours stay the same but labor income goes up.I want to add a little bit to the labor sales but not pay the techs more hours for their labor commission.
Markup is for parts, not labor.Does this mean that if we choose to put in 1.02 in this mark up setting it will over ride the set labor rate of 92.00?
This is referring to OnDemand or ProDemand parts and labor guides.Do we have such a module??

Re: using the markup settings to override my flat rate
I think the issue is he pays flat rate so any increase, time or labor amount will reflect on the tech pay. I might be mistaken but that's what I'm seeing.

Re: using the markup settings to override my flat rate
If you have the Estimator (and you do), the Markup area is provided to support the following:
1. PARTS: Markup list prices of OEM parts transferred from Estimator to Manager. If 10% were entered, the $100 list part will transfer to Manager as $110.
2. LABOR: Markup labor times that are transferred from Estimator ONLY; If 10% were entered, the 1.0 hour labor item will transfer to Manager as 1.1 hours. [no effect on Manager labor rates]
3. SUBLET: Markup labor cost that is entered into Sublet cost field.

Thanks Tim - We are using the parts matrix but I was trying to figure out where the increase for labor originated from. This info will help - Paula

Re: Using Markup Settings To Override My Flat Rate
Tim, will this add labor without crediting the tech hours or pay? I know (or I think I know) if I increase the time it will credit the tech assigned to the job. If I increase the labor amount I'm changing the hourly rate which won't effect the tech pay but will change my posted hourly rate. Also if I manually load a labor charge in the box it automatically translates it into hours which will credit the tech. If I mark up the labor as you suggest won't this translate back also. From what I've found any increase to assigned labor always translated back to that tech. I look at a techs credited hours as a quick reference towards productivity. If I pad the labor won't it translate back to hours so I'll get a false number. Whew I'm confusing myself now, I know it usually doesn't take much

Yes on your manual entries, the pay and actual hours will follow charged hours.I believe what you're asking is a setup option:
