I'm starting this thread to gather real-world input from shops regarding service items that are sold in blister packs, cases, etc. The idea is to create a document that is helpful for shops in this regard. Thanks, Tim
When the quantity installed and sold is one or two, but the item is re-ordered as 4, 6,10,12, 24, etc. how do you handle this? [selling, stocking and re-ordering]

Re: Vendor Items Sold By Pkg Quantities?
If it's around 10 or so, I order and receive the quantity pack as one (1), then sell them by fractions. (ex: 10 items to a pack would be .10 each) I note this in the description field for the SA to bill properly. If it's a lot more, like say 50, then it's a whole unit each. But they're purchased as one unit of 50, so when doing a PO for these, I change the quantity to one and order, then before receiving, I reopen the PO and change the quantity to 50 and change the price accordingly.

Re: Vendor Items Sold By Pkg Quantities?
Right. So in this case 15 is a small number, so I'd probably have them in inventory as 1 package of 15. That way when reordering I can just order 1. But here with 15 it doesn't divide evenly. So each unit is .06 or .07, depending on how you round. This would ultimately end up with some inventory maintenance on the users part.
So you would multiply the quantity by the unit and bill out the result.

Re: Vendor Items Sold By Pkg Quantities?
I do what Ric does. Since I am the only person submitting "re-stock from inventory" purchase orders, I can keep a close eye on the quantities. Occasionally I miss one and end up with too many of a part. I would appreciate a system that would allow for package quantity identification that would make this process a little smoother.
