Exporting to Excel

Post by hokiejill »

We are currently still using version 5.9 but looking at upgrading to the SE version. One of the internal concerns is the SE version will not allow exports to Microsoft Excel. We currently using this functionality and do not want to lose it. Is there a work around for exporting the data into Excel? Maybe I'm just not educated on the process? Can someone enlighten me?

You can export data from Manager SE 6.x as you are doing with 5.9. The difference is that SE is built on an SQL database and the data is more granular (spread across tables with linking tables for the relationships) than 5.9 (MS Access) was.
There is some documentation about using SE (SQL as the data source; I expect to update this after Manager SE 6.5 because most of the important data should be easier to get to.

When will the 6.5 update be available? You mentioned updating the documentation after 6.5.

Also, can you tell me if Mitchell has set a required upgrade date for both Manager SE and also ProDemand? We are hearing mixed responses.

SE 6.5 is already shipping for NEW sales, we expect a green light on shipping updates in the next week or two.

We have not established the sunset date for Manager 5.9 as yet; ProDemand users are being grouped by usage pattern recorded. Those who are using ProDemand exclusively now are Group A; those who use it 80% of the time are Group B and so on through the usage observed. We also have a small portion of customers who are on 5.9 + OD5.com for very specific external reasons, too complicated to spell out here.

Marketing plans to keep everyone informed as the progress continues.

Just to clarify, can you specifically tell me whether data query will be available into Excel? I know you said above data query will be available but will we be able to use the Data Query functionality within Excel? I think at some point someone has told me no.
