Annual Count Questions

Post by peacevans »

We are looking to prep for our annual physical inventory count. We carry a lot of inventory and we really need to do this right this year.
I have two goals for this:
1) Obtain an accurate physical count of all inventory
2) Rationalize our database by removing duplicate parts, parts we no longer stock or sell, or parts that have been superceded, etc.

In an ideal world, we count the last week of December and that becomes the new database on January 1.

I have some database and SQL background and know it's not something I can do on my own.

Does anyone know of a database consultant that can work with us? Is that a Bolt On kind of project they can do?

Any other tips on end of year count?

You can do most of what you are asking using Report Pro from Bolt On. Tools > Price List Import

See example:

The only thing it can't accomplish is deleting old parts. The initial setup is a huge pain, but once done it is pretty easy going forward.

Follow up to my question -
Is there a way to simply zero out the entire inventory list so when we do our physical count we are starting fresh?
Does support have a script for this?
