1992 Ford F150 - (5.8L) Battery Light - FIXED

Post by DARRAH »

Battery light is illuminated consistently. Alternator tests fine under load or otherwise. No corrosion on wires leading to alternator or attached voltage regulator. Battery holding charge, no corrosion, and tests fine.

This one has me stumped. Any advice?

if it has an internal regulator replace pigtail. these puppies were famous for burning. guts of plug get boogered up inside. when you get a reman alt, there should be a warning sticker over the reg plug saying replace or no warranty. readily avail local jobber or at peps or zone

probably the alternator. i've had more that a few with those symptoms. years ago we'd replace the diodes but those days are gone by.

We put the pigtail in, and the system tests fine! No battery light...thanks for the input, all!
