One thing I thought i was not going to like but fell in love with, entering the Part store INVOICE number into the "ref/inv#" field on the PO. Once I gave up my "old school" way......wow does that save me time. Open PO, enter Invoice number and done. No opening Ro, click on parts line by line.

One thing we have never gotten used to is using PO's......I know we probably should, a lot of times we are ordering parts ahead for a job a week out and we end up having to open the repair order to tag the part with the customer name. It might be easier for us to use the PO's if the customer name would show up on there as well. I know it's probably a programming nightmare, but a partial reason why we don't use it.

This is what makes Special Orders so great, especially when you couple it with Purchase Orders. You have a clear understanding AND audit trail of everything you order, WHO it is ordered for, when it came in or when it will arrive. ANYONE in you organization can quickly answer, 'where are my parts?' when your customer calls.

When we order parts we enter the Name and RO# into the Ref/Inv# field, makes it easy.
