2001 Nissan Maxima - A/C Won't Turn On
A/c will not turn on.
There is a green and black wire from the main switch to the computer; if i ground it the system will work. I replaced the main switch, still the same. All power and grounds seem to be good.

Well, since the control for the AC compressor comes from the ECM, my thought would be that the amp provides the ground that the ECM needs to see for compressor operation. I'd cut the wire and ground the ECM side just to be sure. Many of these systems use some for of ECM control to cut out AC for WOT.crownvic wrote:Its auto a/c.A 2001 maxima gle.I tested the pressure sensor, its ok.[computer!!! thats where my mind is]I think everything else is ok.Does the ground come from the amp,or the computer???

Bummer. Do you have the correct powers and grounds to the amplifier? Did you try cutting that wire and confirming that control?crownvic wrote:I replaced the amp which is the control head still the same problem.

Good. Now it's reasonable to conclude that the ECM and all on that side is functioning properly. At this point I would make certain that all powers and grounds are good at the amp. It's very possible the used amp has the same problem.crownvic wrote:I cut the wire n grounded it to the computer, the system turned on.I just also just found out the new amp was from a salavage yard.Could it really be that amp is bad with the same problem?????WOW THIS HAS MY MIND!?:!?:!?:

Looking at the diagram, there is a thermal sensor on the top left of the engine. Not sure what it does, but it may limit compressor engagement if it senses an overheat condition. Check that out. It looks to be the only input to the amp that could prevent engagement.crownvic wrote:WOW!! i replaced the amp with a new one still the same problem,i am very confused????

Re: 2001 Nissan Maxima - A/C Won't Turn On
Also found pinout values for your Grn/Blk wire. Without call for compressor there should be 4.6 volts on that wire. When the amplifier calls for compressor engagement, that voltage should go to zero. If it doesn't, and all powers and grounds are good, and you're sure the setting will call for engagement, there may be an input to that amplifier that is preventing engagement.
