2001 Honda Civic EX 1.7L - Not Running Now FIXED
car ran well upon arrival. Put timing belt, valve cover gasket, spark plugs and fr struts, and had battery disconnected. After work was completed, the car starts and runs for about 3 seconds then cuts off. It will re-start and repeat every time as if the alarm system is active. Was hoping someone has an idea as how to disable it. Honestly not sure its alarm related. Have re-checked timing marks and all wiring that was unplugged. Dont have any viable information thru Verus for anything but, eng, trans, abs, and air bag. Been a very long day and cant wrap my head arount it. Tomorrow is another day. Have a great evening gentlemen...

Id triple check belt alignment and crankshaft sensor. Id also check key way on crank or corrosion on cranksensor connector. But most likely an alignment issue.

I would look real close for any ground wire that's not attached ot bent pins in the crank or cam sensor. I think this is the one where the lead for the crank sensor runs along the cover and i've seen them get brittle and brake inside. I'm willing to bet you're loosing impulse to injectors after key is released.

going to tear covers down first thing this am and "tripple" check marks. will look at the lead wire for crank and check all pins and grnds. Appreciate the input so far and will let yall know what mistake was made.

I've done lots of immobilizer work on Hondas. Usually a start and stall is not a symptom. Generally it will crank and not start. I assume you have no codes. Turn the ignition on. The key lamp should illuminate then go out. If it stays on or starts to flash, it is immobilizer. If it goes out, it's likely not.

Yesterday was a really rough day. Timing belt was off 1 tooth. Re-aligned and problem gone. Thanks for sharing my stress and those few ideas

Congrats on the fix. Personally i've never seen 1 tooth cause that, it has thrown codes though.
