TIP: Where Do Receipts On Deposit Come From?

When looking at the sales receipts summary - where does the total receipts on deposit come from ?

Those are monies you collected as a "deposit" on the job prior to closing the invoice and paying the ticket in full.
Example...Engine job 5G, customer puts down 3G. You close books at end of day this will show as deposits. Job is completed you collect balance due..those are receipts. This is how I understand it. HTH, Jeff.

In addition to the traditional process of taking deposits for work, it is possible for users to unknowingly create these instances. Here's two examples:

1. The User doesn't convert to Invoice before taking payment; any payments against a Repair Order are seen as deposits
2. Payment is processed against an Invoice but the Invoice is not posted on the same date; this is seen as a deposit

Are there any other situations which would create deposits? The suggestions provided were verfified and don't seem to be the case

I just double-checked with support and those are the two known typical causes.
