Balance Due Warning Flag

Post by Toddcolchin »

I would like to speak with someone about the warning flag set up in Mitchell SE. Specifically I think it should be the users decision as to when the flag is triggered. Manager 5.9 would trigger the moment an invoice was posted. SE WILL NOT trigger a warning flag to the user about a customer that owes money until the invoice is 30 days or older. This is a problem when a job carries over to the next week. For example we diagnose a vehicle as needing a large repair operation on Friday, now the job will carry to Monday. We do payroll weekly so the diagnostic invoice gets posted for payroll reporting. The job get completed on Monday or later, the customer comes in to pay and there is no flag to remind my Service Advisors that another unpaid invoice exists - so it get forgotten. As previously stated 5.9 would remind us of the post and unpaid invoice.

It is incomprehensible to me how something that worked so well on the previous software version gets altered on the new version and then it's fixed in place - not user adjustable! Please help. Please give us the capability to set our own parameters within the software.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post.

Manager SE is built in SQL as opposed to MS Access that was the framework for Manager 5.9. We built SE to look and operate similar enough to 5.9 to ease the eventual transition to SE, while also supporting many new features not possible in 5.9. Under the hood, some factors were may have been interpreted differently to respect business rules that guide the development process. If development's interpretation is that this feature is primarily the driver for Late Fees processing and user data indicates that most shops consider "late" to be 30 days, then that's how they would build it. Given the typical 30 days scenario, both versions do provide the same outcome. All that is to explain how we got to here.

If you are instead using it as a pop-up warning that there is ANY balance due, you must have had it set the value for 1 or 0 days in 5.9 to get that to happen.

I have forwarded this thread to tech support and product management for consideration.

I have a reply from SE product management that a development story has been added to get this functionality restored.

While I cannot give you a date when this will occur, I can say it likely wouldn't have to wait for another disc update, once we get SE 6.5 and it's internet updater function going. The good news that this will deliver fixes to the field faster.
