That's exactly how they work.
You create purchase orders from repair orders. Once parts are on a repair order, you press Parts Ordering (electronic catalog) or Options>Pick List to create the purchase order.

I know how the parts ordering tab works, but doing that doesn't create a PO under the PO's tab. I have to enter a PO manually. But when I receive the part and go back into the PO's tab click on the correct part and click received, then can you transfer to the proper RO?

In ManagerPlus, when you receive parts on a Purchase Order created from a Repair Order, the parts show as received on that Repair Order.

Re: PO Parts Transfer to RO?
When ordering parts electronically from an RO, the PO is created automatically. If you do not have an integrated catalog setup it goes like this:
1. RO has parts that need to be ordered
2. Order screen - Options -> Pick List (parts needed when RO is marked as printed)
3. Pick List -> Create Order turns it into a PO worksheet
4, Select the vendor and Save
Now transmit that to the vendor by email, phone, IM, whatever
If the PO originated from that RO, it includes the option to receive parts to RO.
If the PO was originated from Inventory -> PO menu, there is no relationship to the RO (stock order, etc.)

I don't have manager plus, just manager. That's why we are getting confused I think. Is there a way to do it on Manager? I assume not, unless I pay for manager plus

Think I just figured it out - You have the PO Button on your toolbar suddenly but nothing else. This was the .37 update and I think it added it to everybody regardless of version. You do not have Inventory / PO functions at this time.
If it says Inventory it is still pointing to Parts List. If and when you get Manager "Plus" SE your parts list parts will automatically be on the inventory list.
