Why force price check before ordering?

Post by Tylo Inc »

You need to get rid of the requirement to price check before parts are ordered online. Most of us will have just looked them up so KNOW the price already, and probably have tweaked it due to a price match or our own personal parts mark up or what have you. Completely stupid to have it require me to do so, especially considering how often connection to the vendors takes a minute or two. Time is money and sitting here staring at a computer screen is not me getting work done.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post.

Price Check is there to ensure that the shop sees any changes to Cost and Availability before ordering. You may apply User Entered Sale to create your own selling price, this has no effect on cost which can change literally at any time. You may have looked this up five minutes ago but it could also be yesterday or a month ago. In terms of connection time, the difference is negligible. You're establishing a connection to the vendor in any event and the Price check adds maybe 5 seconds to that process as a safeguard for shops to avoid surprises. If your connections are taking two minutes using high speed internet, I'd be looking into that as well.

One thing to add is that not all the vendors require you to price check first. we use OR, ADV, and AZ. AZ and OR make us price check first, ADV, we can order without price check. This has led me the just believe that this is a vendor decision for this requirement.

I agree that mine does not take that long, I do like that feature, because if the revision has been in there and you go to sell it say 6 months later, it ensures prices have not changed.
