2007 Nissan Altima SL
VIN Decode: 1N4AL21E37C150460 decodes as a choice of base or S, we have an SL but there's no option in the list for SL. If you manually enter SL the decode button goes black again. The only reason that I raise this post is that it does matter on this vehicle when ordering parts.

Re: 2007 Nissan Altima SL
Thanks for posting. That is an odd one; Wikipedia lists only the base and S trims for the 2.5L engine. There is a 3.5 SR model with V6 but that's it for 2007-2012. There is a 2.5SL model starting in 2013....

Re: 2007 Nissan Altima SL
We could leave it go although I can see a problem looming when the vehicle comes back in and the next Service Writer see the vehicle hasn't been decoded. Then, obviously, you left with "Base" or "S" again and we have the potential of ordering incorrect parts. I could put a note saying "don't press the decode button for this vehicle". Let me know if you think it's fixable.

Re: 2007 Nissan Altima SL
Since sources don't document this SL version, I would leave it DECODED as S and then enter a note in Vehicle Memo that the "car is badged as SL trim level".

Guthrie how did you come to the conclusion it is an SL? I have had vehicles in that had body repairs made with newer model parts that were badged incorrectly. I have also seen dealers add badges to "create" an unique model.

Re: 2007 Nissan Altima SL
Agreed. More of an assumption since it was badged as SL trim. At the time I entered this it seemed more likely that Shopkey wasn't supplying the correct info rather than someone put on an SL badge willy-nilly. Although anything is possible.Jeff @ Able Auto wrote:Guthrie how did you come to the conclusion it is an SL? According to VIN, it's an S...
*Edit: Maybe my post seems redundant to what Mitchell's process does, but using that sight probably confirms that Mitchell is correct and car is mis-badged? I find it hard to believe two sources could be wrong with the same info
*2nd edit: realized the vin changed when I entered it into that website... Not a reliable website since it seems to do this consistently, no matter what vin I used. I've changed the URL to not work so nobody tries to use the site and get wrong info

Re: 2007 Nissan Altima SL
I think a dealer invented a model that competing dealerships couldn't get.

I have one of these in here now, Identifix lists it as SL, but no option in Mitchell.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

This thread was about 2007 and it was ruled out for reasons mentioned above; researching the 2010 now...nickscarcare wrote:I have one of these in here now, Identifix lists it as SL, but no option in Mitchell.

I have a little info for you, called the dealer they did some digging, it does come back to them as a S model, he did not have anymore answers than that.
